Driven by the utmost concern on the current plight of hunger & malnutrition of the underprivileged, the concept of seeking donation of soon to expire products from reputable companies for distribution to the marginalized families was born on November 4, 2016
The group composed of Mr Bernie Villegas, Lito Sandejas, Jimmy Ladao, Danny Navarro & Itong Torres formed the Philippine Foodbank Foundation Inc.
The Concept
The foundation aims to distribute these products to the marginalized utilizing parishes, the religious, orphanages, schools & charitable institutions as their partners to reach the grassroots.
Legal Approval
On April 5, 2017, the final approval of the Certificate of Registration of the Philippine Foodbank Foundation Inc was secured from the Securities & Exchange Commission.
The First Donor
It was on February 22, 2017 that the initial donation of milk products was given by Alaska Milk Philippines. It was subsequently distributed to Dual Tech Training Center Foundation Inc & Anihan Technical School.
The Foundation has over 129 beneficiaries which covered part of Metro Manila & provinces of Bulacan, Bataan, Mindoro, Laguna, Tarlac, Bicol, Abra, Apayao, Batangas, Pampanga, Quezon, Marawi, Tagaytay, Angono, Rizal, Cebu, CamarinesSur.
Foreign Beneficiaries
Aside from the local beneficiaries, the products have reached other countries including Myanmar, Kazakstan, Indonesia, and Portugal.
Krispy Kreme
Started pilot run in February 2018 and started regular daily donation of doughnuts from March until present.
